LVMH To Open Private Boutiques, Workshops For Public Viewing

by Hannah Elliott at Forbes
LVMH announced today that it will open 25 of its heritage sites to the public this fall.

The Maisons of the LVMH group will open workshops, vineyards, private mansions, family homes and historic boutiques October 15 and 16 in France and abroad. Executives at the luxury empire are billing the project as “Les Journées Particulières.”

“These locations are living treasures and are the setting for the exceptional talent within each of the Group’s Maisons,” Antoine Arnault, CEO of Berluti and an LVMH Board Member, said in a press statement. “We hope that the visitors will be as moved and amazed as I am each time I visit them.”

All of the major Maisons within the Group will participate in the project, opening famous spots like Dior’s famous Avenue Montaigne boutique, LVMH outposts at the Place Vendome, and Asnières, where bespoke Vuitton luggage is made (photos above, right). Vineyards, leather-good shops, and watch and jewelry makers in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Poland and the United Kingdom will also take part.

Each location will host special events like handicraft conferences and demonstrations by local artisans. Temporary exhibitions of historic LVMH materials are also planned as a way to showcase the particular identity of each site.

“Each Maison possesses its own heritage and individual relationship to excellence and innovation,” Arnault said. They “support each other and share their communal passion for perfection, both in the diversity of the traditions which inspire them and in the innovation and modernity which has given them their global prestige.”

Access to the sites is free, but reservations are required (they’ll be available online later this month). In the meantime, here is the list of locations:
