by Elite Choice

Cohiba Cognac by Martell Martell Creates Cohiba Cognac to Pair with Cohiba Cigars Customization is basically luxury. Something made to order or made specially makes it luxurious. Martell has done just that. They have created a Cohiba Cognac and it has been designed to pair seamlessly with Cohiba cigars. Martell has unveiled its new creation the Cohiba Cognac in Hong Kong. If you love the Cohiba Cigars, you will love the Cohiba Cognac.

The blend of the new Cognac is made from exceptional eaux-de-vie which are aged between 40 and 50 years in oak casks. 50 years is half a century and you can very well imagine that during this period it takes on the wood’s rich notes as well as an amber hue. In the end it finishes with 43% alcohol volume and that is what makes it perfect for consuming with cigars. That alcohol volume is considered ideal when consumed with a cigar.

The taste of the cognac is rounded, smooth and almost sweet. In the end it offers a touch of liquorice and a slightly nutty note. A bottle of the Cohiba Cognac has been priced at Hong Kong $5,000 and will become available for sale very soon from January. The bottle itself shows the connection of the cognac to Cuba and its cigars. The bottle of the cognac depicts a typical Cuban tobacco field.

what to wear in the reveillon – Top 10: International Tailors

by AskMenUK

“The only man who behaved sensibly was my tailor; he took my measurement anew every time he saw me, while all the rest went on with their old measurements and expected them to fit me.”
- George Bernard Shaw

As any well-dressed man can tell you, there is nothing quite as elegant as a hand-tailored suit. For those not familiar with it, the term “bespoke tailor” has an interesting history. The phrase dates back to the 17th century when tailors had bolts of fabric in their shops. When the customer chose his material, the fabric was spoken for, hence the term “bespoke.” This material was then transformed into a garment tailored to the customer’s individual measurements, just as a bespoke tailor will do today.

Be aware that there is a difference between made-to-measure and bespoke tailoring. Made-to-measure uses an existing template individually adjusted to your measurements, while bespoke means that your own pattern is created from your measurements. Also, keep in mind the difference between a designer and a tailor: The former can design your garment, but he will not be the one tailoring it for you.

Each tailor has his own individual style; find one that appeals to you, but look for standard details that demonstrate quality. For instance, the canvas lining should be free-floating rather than fused, and button holes and edges should be hand-stitched.  Now let’s go shopping. Here is a selection of top international tailors; whether you are in London, New York or an exotic locale, you never know when you’ll feel the need for that ultimate suit.

Note: All prices are in U.S. dollars.

Number 1 Gieves & Hawkes, 1 Savile Row, London, England

Since the late 18th century, the tailors at No. 1 Savile Row have fitted some of the United Kingdom’s most famous historical figures — George III and Admiral Lord Nelson among them. Intact Royal Warrants of Appointment to the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales will ensure Gieves & Hawkes’ place in tomorrow’s history books; approximately $5,000 (to start) will secure your own bespoke legacy.

Is Disentis Skiing’s Next Big Secret?

Christophe Margot for The New York Times

 By CHRISTOPHER SOLOMON at  theNewYorkTimes

IN the early 1990s, Powder magazine, the proudly die-hard ski rag that has weaned countless future ski bums, published an article in which the author spoke of a mystical ski area of unprecedented off-piste challenge. So paranoid was the writer that this mountain’s pristine slopes and elevator-shaft chutes would soon be overrun by, well, the rest of us, that he wouldn’t even name the place. He would only call it — tantalizingly — Valley X.

Secrets are hard to keep in the ski world. People pieced together the clues, and word got out that Valley X was La Grave, France. La Grave became famous.

A few winters later Powder ran a piece about another unknown ski kingdom — a Valley Y — where off-piste runs stretched for a vertical mile or more. The place was revealed as Alagna, Italy. “So many Swedish ski bums” — those shock troops of great skiing —“showed up there and were so rowdy, Alagna had to hire a cop for the first time in its 800-year history,” recalled Powder’s former editor, Steve Casimiro.
